So, I was sitting with a friend at lunch yesterday talking about life, love, parents children and getting older. She recently celebrated her 42nd birthday and mine is coming up in April.
We discussed how we are definitely getting older, and how forty-two is young, but when our parents were hitting their forties, we were thinking, how old they were.
My friend (since 5th or 6th grade), said to me, "You know what, I just celebrated my 2nd, twenty-first birthday..."
How brilliant is that. The second time you turn 21. The time to re-enter your adulthood and do it better than you did it before. It is kinda like, when grandparents get a second chance to parent with the next generation.
So for all the women thinking of reinventing themselves, no matter the age. Go for it. Use the mistakes and lessons learned in your past to make you the most badass, female on the planet. Yes, there is plenty of room to have lots of women feeling good about themselves through the power of re-invention. Here are 5 tips to help you get started in your reinvention:
Eat According To The Season
Eating according to the seasons is not as hard as you may think. The main thing is to look foods that are on sale (seasonal items usually) and to go according to the dominant weather patterns.
In the summer, we want to eat cooling foods like salads and juicy fruits. In the winter and fall, we may opt for foods that warm us like soups and root vegetables.
In any case, make sure to eat according to how your body feels. Pay attention. If you are hot, eat cooling foods and if you are cold, eat foods that warm the body. All in all, pay attention to your body and act accordingly.
Afterall, no one can do you better than you.

I have never been a coffee drinker. Yes, in a world full of coffee drinkers, a tea drinker has to find their way and find a group of common folk. I have yet to find a circle of people who really like to try different teas, but, I know they are out there, and through my day to day living and my travels, I will find them.
I began getting into tea drinking when I was taken Dong Quai to help with my infertility concerns. My acupuncturist, gave me some of the tea and told me of them benefits. After doing, more of my own research and learning about more benefits, I began my journey to find and utilize more teas that heal. Being healthy, I feel, is truly a battle that must be one from the inside out. So in respect to the entire body, starting with internal health, here is a list of 5 reasons that I LOVE herbal teas.
Eat your veggies! You cannot get up from the table until you eat your veggies! No dessert until you eat all of your veggies! Ok, you don't have to eat them all, just this much (proceed to portion out veggies).
Yep. Sounds so familiar to me! So what do we do as parents who want our children to be healthy and strong? Below I will give you 3 tips that have worked for me to get my babies to eat more veggies!
Try something New! Live Fit. Be Fearless
History has repeated itself over and over again. As woman we have learned from many generations past, that we can have and do it all. Siiiiike! I am a woman that tries so hard to make all the pieces fit for everyone to be happy. I really wish everyone can be happy and truthfully, that I can be all things to all people, except haters of course. Well then, I still want to be of some motivation to them. Hey everyone needs motivation. As strong, powerful, fit and fearless beauties, we have to give up the notion of the be all wonder woman. Yes, I am talking to me too. Trying to be a wonder woman and make everyone else happy all, will only lead to feelings of emptiness. It is impossible. So I am trying to let that notion go. In fact, Wonder Woman was my hero as a young girl. She didn't take any shit, helped others and was feminine and beautiful in the process. But the truth is, she is just a fictional character. Yep, fake as hell! We as woman have to give up the notion of the being a one woman wonder.
Here are a couple of things that we can do to let go of that notion:
Live Fit, Be Fearless!
This is very easy to make.
1 pound of chicken boneless skinless, chicken breasts.
2 bags frozen carrota, broccoli, and cauliflower
1 jag cheese dip or 1 cup of Velveeta.
Cooked rice or pasta.
Season and sautee chicken until thoroughly cooked. Shred.
Add bags of veggies to shredded meat. Cook until veggies are tender.
Add cheese. Cook until melted. Stir often.
Once cheese is melted, serve with rice or pasta. Boom!
Thank me later!
Some people count calories, I like to create balance. This plate includes carbohydrates, protein, fats, and veggies. The "sour cream" is actually Greek yogurt, which has a ton of protein.
What is it?
Chicken and cheese baked potato with Greek yogurt. Green peppers and a roma tomato topped with Zesty Italian Dressing.
So delicious! Thank me later.
Be Fit, Live Fearless!
Life can throw all of us curve balls! What we do with those balls is important. We can become a victim or we can become a survivor to the 10th magnitude! I have always been a person who believes self help. Being a stepchild and all of the insecurities that can come with that and feeling different and less connected with my step-family, I think, drove me to try to be better and better. This along with the worldly pressures of being a renaissance woman, being all things to all people, made me want to read topics about self improvement. Book and magazines, on how to do this and how to do that, lead me to read so much, study and practice ways to improve myself. Years ago, when my stepmother had just passed away, and I was away from home and the love of my life, in college, I discovered many things. At that time, I spoke with my dad daily in hopes that he could help me get my stuff together and reduce my stresses. He gave awesome advice, and with these bits and pieces of what he suggested and what I learn over my years of research on improvement, I sprung into action. I started journaling, got back into meditation, and just start living my life to be and do what I wanted. I did not want to be stressed. I wanted to be happy again. I went on a journey to self discovery to find ways to make me happy. However, the journey of what makes me happy and reduces my stresses continues to grow. What does this mean?
In order for us to be successful in our own lives, we have to take control and take action. Yes it takes work to to find the full and complete you, but that is what it is all about, finding the real and complete you. If you can study in school for years to learn, you can study yourself for years to learn. What kinds of things reduce your stress? Do you do them or just think about them. Below are 5 ways I like to help reduce my stress.
I am back to blogging. I will be writing a blog reflecting on the previous week. Hopefully, my blog posts will be up on Sunday's or Monday's! So today as I reflect on the things that learned or remembered last week, I will share them with you:
1. Trusting people and treating people a certain way, does not mean you will always get that same thoughtful treatment.
2. There are people in the world who are constantly looking for themselves, but trying to find themselves in you.
3. There are many people who pray on your downfall, and they may sometimes be in your circle.
4. Constantly staying on task is a must in the world of a busy woman.
5. My team name has been changed from Team One Day to Free and Fearless.
6. Being in love and connected with someone is an awesome feeling.
7. Trying to meal prep for the whole week sucks, I think I will stick to prepping at night. Less stress for me.
8. I am going to exhaust all the food in my fridge and cabinets before continuously buying more stuff to sit on my shelves.
9. It is important to find a mentor.
10. Helping live healthier and happier is truly my mission and calling in life.
11. I have no business kicking it if I have work to do!
12. Family is always first. I already knew this, but this week reminded me!
13. I love gardening.
14. I love what I do!
15. I have to stay connect to time management.
16. I have to get better at budgeting my money.
17. My kids depend on me to teach them the right thing.
18. People can have something great under their noses and not even know it.
19. I am thankful for my job.
20. God is the head of everything I do. (I already knew this too)!
I am guilty! Yes, very, very guilty! Guilty of treating my kids like my friends. Yes, I do it. I sway back and forth between parent and homegirl. Yes, I also know, I am sending mixed messages. But the first sign of grow is recognition!
Yesterday both of my children took (snuck) toys to school. Pokemon cards and barbies to be exact. One of the girls showed me the cards as they got on the bus, and the other wave her dolls out the school bus window as the bus rode past me and my daily wave goodbye. Did I serve a hot tray of discipline? NO! I gave them a funny face letting them know it was not cool, BUT I was also not upset, thus no discipline.
Today, knowing they should not take toys to school they both packed toys boldly in front of me and the youngest even got mad about how many toys she had in comparison to her sister. Although, she already had packed the most toys, she was still poppin' off.
So, my point of the story is if you are like me, we gotta step our game up. Yes it is fun showering our children with love, but we have to teach them boundaries. The boundary for this situation is, no bringing toys to school. It is like, not bringing gum to gymnastics or large earrings to dance! It's like sneaking a gun in your backpack, just because you want to and you think it is cool. NOT!
Don't get me wrong! My kids are far from off the hook! As I am sure you kids are far from out of total control. But, a little crying and whining here. A little pouting and puppy dog eyes there! Uuuum, we just can't look with our hearts, we have to see those tears with our minds!
I am a new parent and I am learning as I go! We can learn together! One day at a time!
On those days, our kids are still not our friends!
Here are 5 tips to help with discipline:
Boy when it comes to having patience. I need to get my life all the way together. I want what I want when I want. It is funny, when ut comes to others I have a whole lot of patience. But when it comes to self, its no bueno.
Patience is important because it helps you stay committed to things when they are not going as planned or moving as quickly as you would like. Patience helps you become closer to God by trusting in his process and his path of growth for you.
What I am finding is that I have to keep working toward my goals. Yes, they are ginormous gials, but achievable on all levels. God is building me to be good, better, and my best. Your highr power is
First there is a difference between feeling lonely and alone. Feeling lonely means, that even when you are surrounded by others, you feel like you have nobody in your corner to support you. Feeling alone, means feeling like you have no one, period point blank. Well, you don't have to feel alone, neither to I. Do I feel alone some times? H to the yes! What do I do? Try to get out of my own head. Sometimes, we can become so self consumed with what we think is going on or telling ourselves to just "Forget it", that we miss opportunities to bond with others. Should you put yourself around people who make you feel lonely? H to the naw! But if you feel alone here are 5 things you can to shake the lonely blues.
It is amazing to me what a thankful heart can bring you through. Waking up and literally saying thank you for what you have is a great thing. Of course we can all be wish for more. But to have a warm clean house, with a roof, running water, food in the fridge (even if sometimes the choices are wack- at least we have choices), having love, and electricity are life. So many people take these things for granted.
Other countries are literally living with the bare minimums and we take basic things for granted. Comparing ourselves to others and comparing ourselves to what others have. God has ordered our steps and we must live and walk in them and be thankful for what we have, so that we can get more.
There was a time when I was so spoiled on life, that I was not even close to being thankful for what God has given me. When you lose nouns, it will make you think again about what is important. For awhile, I was so focused on things that did not matter in the grand scheme of things, but not with God's life lessons and help. I am willingly listening to him and trying my best to walk his path laid for me and not trying to do my own thing. Why not try something different? Do what I want has not gotten me where I want to be yet, so now I'm walking in God's path for me. I am willingly thankful daily, not I must walk his chosen path, all the while being thankful.
What are you thankful for? Comment below!
2016 seemed to a whirlwind for everyone. Ups, downs, smiles and frowns. With hopes of making 2017 more prosperous than 2016, resolutions are being made and solutions are being sought to render true happiness.
I am excited for what the world has to iffer me starting in 1 day. My plan is to live and love everyone harder, build my business, celebrate and honor my family, improve my community and my bank account, and last but not least walk in the footsteps that have been ordered by God FOR ME.
I will walk in light, practice my yoga and fitness and drink more water. My career will come third to God and Family.
Let your light shine in 2017. Even if you don'tbshare it with the world, write it down and share it with yourself.
Writing your goals down is a good way to hold yourself accountable. Go into 17 like the beast you truly are, hold no prisoners and honor no haters. Love and pray for them, but show no honor. You have no time for that in building your greatness. Charge forward. Here we come 17.

Yoga is more than just getting into difficult physical holds and contortionist positions. It is also more that a competition of who is most flexible. Yoga really is about learning to COME BACK TO YOURSELF. It is about finding your limits, expanding your boundaries and truly being able to relax into who you are.
Yoga is about taking time to remember who you are while being caught up in this fast-paced thing we call life. It has become an increasingly more popular form of exercise because it helps you feel relaxed, harmonious, integrated and complete. Finding your center in yoga poses, helps you find your center in other areas of your life. Dealing with the difficulties of a posture can help you effectively learn to manuever in the difficult situations of your life.
So in short besides stretching you out and getting you stronger, yoga, helps stretch your mind and gets your spirit stronger to deal with the difficulties faced by everyone in everyday life.
Take your time and practice a little daily. Do your research. And don't be afraid to fail. All positions get better with practice. You can do this. You can do whatever you choose. Always good, working on better, striving for best.
Am I the only one that is happy Christmas is over? Don't get me wrong, I love the pretty lights and the joy it brings my children's faces and being able to spoil the ones I love the most. But, as the season goes on, more and more trinkets, wrapping papers, ornaments and things like that begin to adourn my floor. Being someone who vacuums often, seeing these things cluttering my living space become a little draining on my anxiety.
So today, as soon as soon as Kwanzaa started, that damn tree had to come down. Bye, bye lights, ornaments, garland, stockings and candy canes. My tree is actually going in the garbage. Two reasons, 1- someone (kid) jacked it up and made it have a gangster lean. 2- I want to get rid of my white tree and get a green one. Sure I could jack my tree up or spray paint it green. But like 2016, I am ready to be out with the old and in with the new! Holla! Happy to have my clean home back!
I feel so absolutely blessed to have had all of the trials and tribulations that have made up my life. It has made me stronger and wiser. I have been through a lot of things in my life and I am ready to use this knowledge and experiencve to help everyone that I come across. Everyone that is in need of finding their happiest, healthiest life ever.
